More Power From Ford’s GT Supercar For 2020: Here’s Everything We Know [VIDEO]
More power and performance have been packed into Ford’s (F) GT supercar for 2020. The new car model now features 660 horsepower and a beefed-up cooling package as well as a series of other enhancements.
Powering the GT is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 engine rated 13 more horsepower than its predecessor. The powertrain on the supercar is now equipped with a broader torque band with new engine calibrations and mechanical upgrades.
Upgrades include gallery-cooled pistons and more powerful ignition coils, which Ford said was a lesson learned from the track-version of the GT Mk II. More engine cooling and airflow were also added as well as an increase in airflow by 50%.
The GT also has added suspension dampening in track mode and improved handling, which Ford said is a benefit for high-speed sections of closed-course circuits. The exhaust was also modified with a new Akrapovič titanium exhaust system, which is nine pounds lighter and standard on the 2020 GT.
Ford is offering the GT with a Liquid Carbon body that is lightweight and free of paint. It utilizes a clear coat and is part of a limited-edition option on the supercar. Carbon fiber wheels are also standard with five caliper color choices.

Buyers of the GT can also select dual or single-striping and painted mirror caps. A black pinstripe livery on blue and orange paint is also available from the automaker.
“Ford GT continues to be the pinnacle of Ford performance,” Ed Krenz, Ford Performance chief program engineer said in a statement. “GT is always the ultimate expression of Ford racing innovation, and as we know from the 1966 Le Mans through today, that means constantly raising our game for our customers as well as earning the checkered flag.”
Ford said deliveries of the 2020 GT are ongoing with production of the supercar wrapping up in 2022.
Shares of Ford stock were down 0.72% as of 1:33 p.m. EST on Thursday.
