Morena Baccarin Lands Role In New NBC Legal Drama; Will She Leave ‘Gotham’?
NBC is developing a new legal drama that will star Morena Baccarin, who will also executive produce the series.
The series is still in its early development stage with only a script commitment, according to Variety. But it is expected that NBC will give the series a go signal.
It will follow the story of a former police officer who became a high-powered attorney. The character, coincidentally named Morena, will be played by Baccarin. She will reportedly navigate “the ever-changing landscape of New York City politics, law enforcement and the justice system, all while juggling a complicated personal life.”
Baccarin is already known for her role as Dr. Leslie “Lee” Thompkins in the Fox show “Gotham,” but fans shouldn’t be worried about her character being killed off because Baccarin will remain as a series regular despite this new commitment.
This Season 3, Lee has found love in Mario Falcone (James Carpinello). They are about to get married soon, although it’s clear Lee and her former beau Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) still have feelings for one another. At the same time, Carter Matt has reported that trouble will brew in Lee and Mario’s relationship in the Nov. 21 episode entitled “Mad City: Time Bomb.”
In the episode, the couple will be having their rehearsal dinner. However, a threat will expose the new couple, leaving Gordon no choice but to contact Mario’s father, Carmine Falcone, for help.
Aside from Lee and Mario’s rehearsal dinner, the episode will also feature Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) seeking revenge, while Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) tries to discover more about the Court of Owls.
As for Gordon, TV Line reported that he briefly enjoyed a fling with reporter Valerie Vale (Jamie Chung), but their romance ended after she got shot by Jervis Tetch (Benedict Samuel).
"Gotham" airs every Monday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
