Morgan Freeman Falls Asleep During Interview, Explains He’s A ‘Beta Tester For Google Eyelids’ [VIDEO]
If anyone could fall asleep during an interview and get away with it, it definitely would be Morgan Freeman. It appeared as if the actor started to take a nap while on camera promoting “Now You See Me,” his new movie with Michael Caine.
According to People magazine, the 75-year-old actor, who is pretty much considered Hollywood royalty, allowed Caine to answer questions from Q13 anchors Kaci Aitchison and Bill Wixey about the crime thriller, which centers around a band of magicians who use their talents to rob banks.
The video of Freeman’s snooze soon went viral, but the actor had an explanation for his afternoon nap. He told People, “I wasn't actually sleeping," he said. "I'm a beta tester for Google Eyelids. I was merely updating my Facebook page."
Freeman starts out the interview wide awake, but he begins to nod off right before clips of the film are shown. The actor is then awoken from the impromptu doze. The station later wrote on its website, “Maybe he was up too late partying.”
Freeman isn’t the only celebrity to apparently fall asleep mid-interview; two years ago, legendary performer Harry Belafonte also closed his eyes while talking to a local news station, People wrote. The "Day-O (Banana Boat Song)" singer's rep said he was just taking time to meditate while the station worked out some technical difficulties.
“Now You See Me,” which also stars Isla Fisher, Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco, Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson, is set to hit theaters on May 31.
