Morgan Wallen, who won Top Country Male Artist award at Billboard Music Awards held on Sunday, took the opportunity to thank his mother Lesli Wallen, one-year-old son, Indigo Wilder, and fans.

"Man, I’d like to say thank God, thank my fans, I got the best damn fans," the 29-year-old singer said during his acceptance speech. "Thank you to my mama for being my date tonight, I wouldn’t be here without you.

Morgan then went on to thank Billboard and his team. "Thank you to the Billboards for inviting me here," he continued. "Thank you to my team, thank you to my family, my friends. Thank you to my little boy for inspiring me every single day. God bless y’all."

The official Twitter handle of the award show shared the video on Twitter.

Chris Stapleton and Luke Combs were also nominated in the same category.

Billboard Music Awards 2022 marked the return of Morgan following the last year's incident when he was banned from attending music shows due to his viral clip. In that clip, the singer was captured using a racial slur.

Twitter users shared their reactions in the comments section of the Billboard Music Awards’ clip, noting that the singer should have addressed the racial slur incident.

However, some fans thought it was okay not to talk about that viral clip, others just congratulated the singer for the victory.

"He made a mistake," a fan commented. "This should have been his chance to say something about what happened but I think it wasn’t the right time. I get it. I am fan and love his music and he deserves this. I’m seeing when you come to Dallas in October and he is my thing."

"I wish the speech could've been longer. I'm sure you felt some tension in the room but you could've used tonight to speak to everyone and not just the country fan base," another fan wrote. "Congratulations tho..."

"Congratulations you deserve this award! We love you and your music!!" said another.

On the work front, Morgan was last featured in a music video, "Broadway Girls" released on Dec. 20, last year.
