A woman in the United Kingdom has been charged in connection with the death of her 7-year-old son, whose lifeless body was discovered outside a house in freezing weather conditions.

Paramedics found the young boy, Hakeem Hussain, unresponsive at around 7.30 a.m. ET on Nov. 26, 2017, outside his great-uncle's house in Nechells, Birmingham, where he was staying with his mother. Attempts to revive him had proved futile, FR 24 News reported. The boy reportedly died due to a cardiac arrest.

Hussain's mother, Laura Heath, now 39, is now facing a manslaughter charge as well as four counts of child cruelty charges for the tragic death of the child, the outlet reported. Heath is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

After Hussain was found dead, a 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of ill-treatment of the child while his mother was arrested for neglecting him, Birmingham Live had reported. However, they were released under supervision as the inquiry progressed. It wasn't immediately clear how the man was related to the child.

"The alleged violations occurred between April 12, 2017, and Nov. 26, 2017," Mark Paul, head of the Crown Prosecution Service, the principal public agency for conducting criminal prosecutions in England and Wales, said in court, according to FR 24 News.

Julie Wright, who was then the headteacher of Nechells E-ACT Academy where Hussain had been a student, described him as a "beautiful little boy" with a "wicked sense of humor and infectious giggle."

"He was a warm and generous-hearted soul who was talented across many areas of the curriculum but especially so in music and the arts," Wright told BBC.

In June, authorities in California were looking for the mother of a 7-year-old boy after the latter was found dead near a Las Vegas trailhead. After a DNA test confirmed the boy's identity, a nationwide arrest warrant was issued against his mother Samantha Moreno Rodriguez, 35, of San Jose. The child, identified as Liam Husted, was reported missing by his father on June 1, after he couldn't contact Rodriguez.
