It's been decades since Britney Spears' mother, Lynne Spears, was involved in a fatal car accident, but despite all the time that has passed, new details have emerged about Lynne's actions (or lack thereof) following the heartbreaking event.

In 1975 when Lynne was 20, she ran over and killed 12-year-old Anthony Winters, who had been riding his bike around his hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana.

The tragedy is something that seemingly still affects the 64-year-old because, according to Radar Online, sources revealed that she is still haunted by the incident and doesn't like to talk about it. Additionally, she was never charged in the accident -- nor has she reached out to the victim's family to express any condolences, the outlet recently learned.

"It’s been 40-some years ago, but she’s never been in touch with me," the victim's mother, Yvonne Winters, 78 revealed. "It was an accident. It was a terrible situation, but it was an accident, and accidents can happen to anyone."

The gossip news site reached out to Lynne for comment but did not receive a response. These days Lynne is likely by her pop-star daughter's side amid all the recent drama.

In the last two months, there were allegations that Lynne's ex and Britney's father, Jamie Spears, had been abusive to his grandson Sean Preston. This was followed by Jamie's request to temporarily relinquish himself as the conservator of the "Toxic" singer's conservatorship.
