Moto X4 May Launch Sept. 2, $349.99 Starting Price Rumored
The Motorola Moto X4 has been rumored for awhile now, and it looks like it might finally arrive this weekend. Also, a new rumor has popped up claiming that the Moto X4 will have a starting price of $350 in the United States.
There’s been a lot of dates thrown around for the release of the Moto X4. First, it was rumored to be released on June 30, then it was later rumored to have been pushed back to Aug. 24. Later on, the Moto X4 was rumored to arrive sometime in during the fourth quarter of 2017, according to Phone Arena.
Now, the Motorola Philippines Facebook page has announced a live stream event scheduled for Sept. 2. The Facebook page also shared a poster for the upcoming live event featuring Filipino celebrities Nadine Lustre and James Reid. The most intriguing thing about this poster is that it included the text stating “hellomoto X.”
It’s now believed that the upcoming Sept. 2 live stream on the Motorola Philippines Facebook page will include the official debut of the Moto X4. Motorola’s Philippines store doesn’t include the already-aging Moto X models, so the inclusion of the “hellomoto X” on the poster seems to hint at a new Moto X model.
Although the Moto X4 might be shown during the live stream, the handset might still be announced at IFA 2017 in Berlin. Lenovo, the current parent company of Motorola Mobility, will be in attendance at IFA 2017 and will have a press event on Aug. 31. The live stream may simply be a way for Motorola to introduce the Moto X4 specifically for the Philippines, as pointed out by Android Authority.
That said, there really is no way of telling what Lenovo and Motorola are planning. Their launch schedules for its products have been unpredictable as of late. The Moto 360 Moto Mod for example made its first appearance in Ghana.
Whatever Lenovo and Motorola’s true plans are, it still looks like we’re going to finally see the new Moto X4 later this week. The question now is how much will the Moto X4 cost?
Twitter user Andri Yatim (@HeyAndri) claims that the Moto X4 will cost $349.99 for the 32GB model, while the 64GB model will cost $399.99. If this supposed leak is true, then the Moto X4 would be the most affordable Moto X device. The Moto X Pure and the Moto X Style launched in 2015 for $400, while the 2014 Moto X launched at $500, as pointed out by GSM Arena.
Perhaps Motorola wants to dominate the low- to mid-range smartphone market with the Moto X4, which explains the lower price-point. The Moto X4 is no Moto Z2 Force in terms of specs, but it still appears to be a formidable device.
The Moto X4 is believed to arrive with a 5.2-inch 1080p full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor with 4GB of RAM. It’s also expected to be equipped with a set of 12-megapixel dual cameras on the back and will be IP68 water and dust resistant.
