MTV VMAs 2016: Watch The Top 6 Best Performances From Beyoncé To Rihanna
The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards was certainly a night to remember.
Beyoncé made history at New York's Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Aug, 28 by taking home seven Moonman statuettes, surpassing Madonna's previous record of six VMAs. Queen Bey won Best Choreography ("Formation"), Best Editing ("Formation"), Video of the Year ("Formation"), Best Direction ("Formation"), Best Pop Video ("Formation"), Best Cinematography ("Formation") and Best Long Form Video ("Lemonade"), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Meanwhile, Rihanna was named this year's recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard and also took home the award for Best Collaboration, along with Calvin Harris, for "This Is What You Came For."
In addition to the awards, the MTV VMAs wouldn't be complete without stellar, and oftentimes controversial, performances.
Britney Spears made her big MTV VMAs comeback this year, performing her newly-released single "Make Me" off her "Glory" album. She even covered her collaborator G-Eazy's hit song, "Me, Myself and I." Unfortunately, viewers immediately noticed that she wasn't singing live and took to social media to bash the singer. Despite the alleged lip-syncing, the pop princess proved she can still own the stage.
Rihanna performed two times during the show and showed her haters that she definitely deserves the Video Vanguard award when she rocked the house with a medley of all her greatest hits, which includedq “We Found Love," “Where Have You Been," "Rude Boy,” “What’s My Name,” “Work," “Needed Me" and “B-tch Better Have My Money." She later closed the MTV VMAs with an emotional performance of "Stay,” “Diamonds,” and “Love on the Brain.”
But in the end it was Beyoncé who stole the entire show, reminding us why she's the queen with her powerful and haunting "Lemonade" medley.
