Naked, Pregnant Kim Kardashian Statue: Rub Her Nude 'Fertility' Belly For Good Luck
A statue glorifying pregnant Kim Kardashian’s body was revealed on Wednesday as a way to combat the media scrutiny that the 32-year-old reality star has been facing since her belly popped. Celebrity artist Daniel Edwards has preserved her pregnant body in a nude statue titled “L.A. Fertility” in LAB ART Gallery.

The life-size sculpture has an enormous belly and huge breasts but doesn’t have any arms. The face isn’t carved to look uniquely like Kardashian, but the bejeweled headpiece is reminiscent of the one she wore when she married NBA star Kris Humphries in 2011. Following their 72-day marriage, she’s shacked up with rapper Kanye West and before her divorce could be finalized from Humphries, she announced she was pregnant with her new boyfriend’s child.
Famous for her voluptuous curves, Kardashian’s body drastically changed once her pregnancy began to show. Unlike many Hollywood celebrities who typically only gain weight in the stomach, the reality star’s figure widened and was unfortunately labeled as "fat" by some.
Edwards created the sculpture in response to the criticism the fashionista has received since she announced she was expecting a child. “I was inspired by the beauty of Kim Kardashian and felt quite put-off by the media’s criticism of her weight gain during pregnancy,” Edwards said in a release. “Such criticism should be off limits.”
“People tend to look at the parts, like the creases in her armpits, or how she wore a dress that makes her look like a killer whale,” Edwards added to Los Angeles Magazine. “I’m stripping it of the details people get stuck on, so they can see the beauty.“
Those who visit the statue are encouraged to rub the belly for good luck, his publicist Corey Allen said. “We live in a media-absorbed culture where anyone can access and share a celebrity’s most intimate moments,” Allen added. “Daniel visually captures ‘that’ intimacy.”
Edwards is famous for the sculpture of Britney Spears giving birth on a rug and another that portrayed Angelina Jolie breast-feeding.
