A brush fire burning on the southwest side of Larch Mountain, in Clark County, Washington, has destroyed over 70 acres Sunday night, said Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

"DNR Crews are responding to the #NakiaCreekfFire near Larch Mountain in Clark County. The fire is estimated at 70 acres and is burning in grass and brush. Air resources will be assigned to the fire during daylight hours. Updates as conditions change," the agency tweeted.
An East County Fire & Rescue spokesman said the fire is "very remote and very rural" and needs no evacuation planning at this time. However, people residing in areas of east Vancouver, Camas, Washougal, Gresham, Troutdale, and southwest Portland have reported sighting the flames burning on the mountaintop.
As of 10:37 pm ET, the fire was estimated to have burned 70 acres. Three water tenders were sent on the scene when it first started burning, reported The Columbian.
People have taken to social media to post terrifying photographs of the flames.
"Images look like things might be getting out of hand. Picture taken from Camas," wrote a Twitter user.
Twitter user Rick Lundh shared a couple of photos, offering various point of views that highlighted the scary flames.
"We can even see the fire from Portland's West Hills neighborhood," a tweet read. "7 miles from our place in #fernprairie," wrote another. Fern Prairie is a Census Designated Place (CDP) in southern Clark County.
"Seen from Sunrise Park in Troutdale," reported another Twitter user. "We can see this at Camas High," wrote another, alongside a video. A user shared a clip of the fire burning near State Route 500.

People from Skamania County, Washougal and Boulder Creek reported with photos too. The fire apparently started from a dirt bike accident.
Over 140,300 acres have burned around Washington state this year during the fire season, which begins in early July and lasts till end of September, according to DNR.
The numbers appear far smaller compared to 2021's 484,000 acres. The year 2015 was the worst fire season in the state's history, with more than a million acres burned, reported King5.
This is a developing story.
