The first step of embarking on a fitness journey is listing down the food items that are healthy without compromising on the taste aspect and bagels, the popular Jewish bread, completely fits the bill.

Bagels, round-shaped bread that come with various seasonings, is the best indulgence when someone is looking to cut down on calories. There are many creative ways to make bagels but nothing can possibly be better than cheesy bagels.

The bread product that originated in Poland is given the signature shape by hand before it is boiled and baked. The outcome is a dense, chewy, interior with a crisp exterior. The snack is often sprinkled with baked seeds, essentially poppy or sesame to make the surface appear appetizing.

This filling snack has gone through a number of makeovers throughout the ages and what is served today is typically stuffed with veggies and mayonnaise to elevate the snacking experience.

On the occasion of National Bagel Day, which falls on Jan. 15, here are some quotes on the snack that will whet your cravings: (Courtesy: Quotemaster.com)
