National Coaches Day is marked annually on Oct. 6 to honor the men and women who inspire us to work harder and do our best in life. These people can be our life coaches, our game coaches, or any other person who motivates us to strive to be the best version of ourselves.

In 1972, President Richard Nixon issued proclamation 4157, naming this date as National Coaches Day.

Here are some inspirational quotes, courtesy Positive Psychology, to share on this day:

5. "When you encourage others, you in the process are being encouraged because you’re making a commitment to that person’s life. Encouragement really does make a difference." – Zig Ziglar

6. "Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes." – Carl Jung

7. "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." – Ralph Waldo Emerson
