National Love Your Pet Day 2014: Celebrities Show Off Their Dogs To Honor Animal Holiday
Feb. 20 is National Love Your Pet Day, an entire 24 hours dedicated solely to celebrating the four-legged loved ones in your life. Not to be confused with the rival National Pet Day in April, this special occasion allows pet owners to show their critters both big and small just how special they are. Social media is currently flooded with individuals sharing photos of their animals, and celebrities are no exception. Here are five celebrities currently showing the 2014 National Love Your Pet Day spirit:
Bethenny Frankel couldn't resist sharing an image of her famously protective pooch Cookie on Thursday. The talk show host, who posted a picture of the grey-haired pup cuddling up next to a Pillow Pal, has not only shown off Cookie on social media, she also let him star of her former Bravo reality series, "Bethenny's Getting Married" and "Bethenny Ever After." "Today is Love Your Pet Day. I love @cookiedabooboo every day, but extra snuggles today," Frankel posted on Twitter.
Randy Houska and his daughter, "Teen Mom 2" star Chelsea Houska, have never been shy about sharing their beloved dogs with the world on the hit MTV reality series. In honor of the holiday, Randy even shared a personal shot of his French bulldog Dudley on his Instagram page Thursday.
"Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kenya Moore took time away from her most recent TV antics to remember her beloved four-legged friend Thursday, her Yorkie named Velvet. "Hey everyone today is #LoveYourPetDay. They give us so much joy & happiness and our families," Moore posted on her official Twitter, adding, "My heart will always belong to @VelvetTheDog."
While Ian Somerhalder didn't directly wish his "Vampire Diaries" fans a happy Love Your Pet Day, he did show his dedication to his animals on social media. "Running my lines before work in my hyperbaric chamber as kitties lounge around breathing in precious oxygen escaping… Love this thing," the actor posted on Instagram Wednesday. Somerhalder hasn't been shy about sharing his love for critters in the past, even reportedly delivering his pups' own litter last October with his help of his former girlfriend and co-star, actress Nina Dobrev.
As a tribute to the national holiday and social media's popular #tbt (Throw Back Thursday) hashtag, Poison rocker Bret Michaels shared a black-and-white snapshot of himself with a pooch on Thursday. "#loveyourpetday #petsrock #bretmichaels," the musician posted on Instagram.
