National Prime Rib Day, observed every year on April 27, celebrates the special cut of meat, for its lovers to enjoy their favorite.

Prime Rib, sometimes called the "King of Meats," is one of the eight cuts of primal cuts of beef, and is said to be among the most delicious and tender cuts.

Although it's not exactly clear when and where the prime rib was first cooked, it has now gained popularity as a favorite in various countries. In the U.K., for instance, it was at the center of families' "Sunday Roast" even in the late 1800's.

Today, prime rib remains a favorite of many, and it's often served when there are special occasions such as national holidays.

National Prime Rib Day gives people a reason to head to their favorite restaurant to have a prime rib meal. After all, some restaurants even offer some special deals for the occasion. Others who are skilled in the kitchen may even want to prepare a special prime rib dinner for family or friends.

Of course, a good prime rib is also made better by lovely sides. Apart from the classic pairings with mashed potatoes, broccoli and asparagus, people can try other delicious side dishes as well.

For instance, people can try this recipe for Roasted Broccoli with Garlic and Parmesan for the added smoky flavor to broccoli, or this recipe for delicious Skillet Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots from Bake It With Love. Insanely Good Recipes also has some delicious pairing suggestions, from traditional Yorkshire Pudding and creamy Mushroom Risotto, to Roasted Acorn Squash with sweet maple syrup and even Mashed Sweet Potatoes.

For a little change, perhaps the usual asparagus could be turned into a side dish that's a little more scrumptious with this Cheesy Baked Asparagus recipe from Delish. Simple brussel sprouts can also have a delicious makeover with this Cheesy Brussel Sprout Bake recipe.

No matter how one enjoys prime rib or which sides they choose to pair it with, the point is to enjoy and appreciate a delicious prime rib meal.
