'NBA 2K17' Park After Dark Returns Dec. 30 With Future Music And Hopefully Less Lag
NBA 2K17 will host its second Park After Dark event on Dec. 30 with a little help from hip hop superstar Future. With any luck, the upcoming party will go down a lot better than the last one. An official 2K tweet reveals the full details.
The second Park After Dark will start on Dec. 30 at 11 p.m. EST. It’s assumed that, just like the last one, players will be able to use VC to buy some festive glow-in-the-dark clothing while trying out a few exclusive mini-games. Previous events featured dunk and three-point contests that offered VC rewards for competition. Of course, that’s only part of the fun. Handpicked music selections from Future will serenade throughout the night. No end time is listed, but we’d expect it to last until the wee hours of the following morning.
The real test for 2K Sports will be just how well its servers accommodate the rush of new players. The studio has been working hard to bring NBA 2K17, up to snuff, but that doesn’t hide the fact that last month’s Snoop Dogg party was a total disaster. Between glitchy purchases, lag and broken matches, the whole ordeal couldn’t have gone much worse.
Since then we’ve seen a few downloadable and server-side updates that will hopefully adjust the network load. That way, folks that want to hop in to earn that extra bling can do so without a problem. The patch notes didn’t specifically denote changes in the online area, but a lot can be done without documentation.
Park After Dark is one of many different ways 2K Sports attempts to keep NBA 2K17 players active throughout the season. MyTeam fans can also regularly hunt down locker codes and Moments Cards to assemble awesome fantasy teams. Roster adjustments further tie into the real-world action around the league.
NBA 2K17 is available now on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. The event will take place across all platforms.
