KEY POINTS

  • Charles Barkley was named NBA MVP in 1993
  • Draymond Green said that Barkley can’t talk about basketball because he didn’t win a title
  • The beef was renewed this year after Barkley called Green’s game stats his “usual triple-single”

For some, the name of Justin Timberlake would be the last person that would be dragged on to the feud between two NBA forwards, but for Charles Barkley, he was the star.

The 57-year old forward retaliated to Draymond Green’s direct shots at him, saying that he is just a small part of something big where he used a 90s boy band as a reference. "My job is safe. Draymond Green is a nice guy. You know what he is? He's like the guy in the boy band who's the least important member," said one of the best rebounders in the game. "He doesn't realize he's standing next to Justin Timberlake,” he added.

Chuck could be referring to *NSYNC, a boy band who rose to popularity during the mid-90s and early 2000s with Timberlake as the leader of the singing group. The band was known for their hits such as “This I Promise You”, “Tearin’ Up My Heart”, “It’s Gonna Be Me”, and “Bye Bye Bye”.

"He's the least famous person in the boy band, and he thinks he's a star. And he's not. He's lucky to be in the boy band,” said Barkley, who was named 199 NBA MVP. “He thinks all the girls are screaming for him. No, they're screaming for Justin Timberlake.“

"He don't have a TV face. He don't have a TV face. He could do the job but he don't have a face for TV. He's got a face for radio."

His response was after the Golden State Warriors’ forward took Barkley’s comments about his performance the wrong way. “Barkley should stop before I go take his job. Because I can do that well, too,” said the 30-year old wingman. “He also can’t talk basketball with me either. Not smart enough, not qualified. No rings, can’t sit at this table.”

The comments from Draymond was done after Barkley called his performance against the Los Angeles Lakers, saying “He got his normal triple-singles” during the halftime break. Green finished that game with four assists, two points, one rebound, and one steal. He’s not played since that game to nurse his injured knee.

JT hasn’t talked about the involvement of his name on this ongoing beef.
