  • The Golden State Warriors are in a rebuilding phase as they are last in the league standings
  • Steph Curry and Draymond Green remain to be influential leaders for their new additions to the team
  • Marquese Chriss shares that he is learning as much as he can from Steph Curry and Draymond Green

The Golden State Warriors’ leaders Steph Curry and Draymond Green have maintained their positive influence on their teammates despite the unusual losing season. Their latest addition Marquese Chriss has seen a revitalized career with the Warriors thanks to the new environment.

The Golden State Warriors are one of the more popular franchises in the past decade. The five straight trips to the NBA finals to go along with three championships have put them as a dynasty. The Bay Area team has broken numerous records and has changed the game completely with their unique style of play.

While there were times that they seemed to be unstoppable, the Warriors are currently enduring a rough season this year. Despite having the superstar duo of the splash brothers on the roster, both Curry and Klay Thompson have been recovering from their injuries.

But this is where the Warriors’ championship experience comes to play as Golden State has played the season with much patience. The current team has different faces on the roster including the newly added Chriss.

This is the fourth NBA team for Chriss ever since he was selected as the 8th overall pick in the 2016 draft. It was a hot start for the six-foot-nine center, as Chriss was an All-Rookie Second Team member in his first year as a Phoenix Sun. While he’s proven to be a reliable force inside the paint, there is still a lot of room for improvement on his part.

But that has slowly changed with Chriss displaying better numbers in his first few games with the Warriors. While 9.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game don’t scream superstar numbers, they’re a better jump from his brief days in Houston and Cleveland.

The new environment with Curry and Green in the Warriors has changed the way Chriss approaches the game. In a recent Twitter question and answer initiative by the NBA, Chriss revealed how big of an influence Curry and Green are to his game.

"This year, I just tried to learn as much as I could from Steph and Draymond," Chriss said.

With the team looking to bounce back with Thompson’s return from injury and a lottery pick coming up, the Warriors remain to be one of the squads to look out for in the future. The addition of Chriss and his understanding of his role add to the strengths of Golden State.

"They are very vocal leaders and they are passionate about what they do and they care about us as individuals, and they want us to be as successful as they are and they try to teach us as much as they can, and I think each and every one of us on the team tries to listen and learn as best as we can,” Chriss added.

It would be interesting to see how the Warriors bounce back from adversity in the upcoming seasons ahead.
