KEY POINTS
- The NBA season is put into an abrupt halt due to the threats of the coronavirus
- Ja Morant has been one of the bright spots of the league
- Morant has been coping through the loss of sports through TikTok
The suspension of the NBA season has caused so many different ways of coping. Having the season put on hiatus while it was reaching the peak of the year was a major blow for the entire community. This has not affected the loyal fans of the league but it has dealt with major impact already to the teams and players. With that, people have been managing through different means in this bizarre time.
Spencer Dinwiddie has resulted in watching his own YouTube highlights – to which several NBA players admitted in doing as well, including rookie sensation Ja Morant.
To add to this, the first-year guard has also done several other things to do to muddle through with the abrupt halt to the season. He has taken to TikTok to express how much he misses the action on the court.
Morant had his player introduction playing in the background, as he appeared in the frame in full Memphis Grizzlies gear. He had his jersey on and matching shorts as he was giving out imaginary high fives, bouncing up and down to hype himself up.
It’s evident that he just wants to get up and play as it comes with no surprise given how well he’s been producing for his squad. The rookie point guard has been putting up stellar numbers for the Grizzlies as he’s living up to the pressure of being the second overall pick. Morant is putting up 17.6 points per game and is dishing out 6.9 assists per outing.
With him being the floor general, Morant has been able to help the Grizzlies climb up into a playoff spot. They currently hold a 32-33 win-loss standing in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies are hoping to keep their eighth seed in the playoff race and push for a strong postseason run.
Unfortunately, this run will have to wait for a while as the league has considered implementing the suspension for at least three months. Team owners have discussed that the games will most likely resume in mid-to-late June. In addition to this, there’s a possibility that the games will resume without a live audience.
