  • Michael Jordan is considered to be one of the greatest athletes of all time
  • LA Lakers LeBron James has made a name for himself as a phenomenal basketball player
  • Chicago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf shared that LeBron James is not even close to Michael Jordan's level

The lack of sports caused by the global pandemic has brought everyone’s eyes to the “The Last Dance” and Michael Jordan’s career. This caused a rise in the LeBron James and Michael Jordan debate in which Jerry Reinsdorf chipped in.

The man in charge of the Bulls organization during the peak of Jordan’s career has just had about enough of the comparisons between the two. While LeBron is recognized as the game’s top athlete, Reinsdorf thinks the overall greatness of Jordan overpowers that.

Per NBC Sports Chicago, Reinsdorf added that the comparisons of the two are tiresome.

“In my mind, anytime anybody wants to talk to me about comparing Michael to LeBron, I’m going to tell them to please don’t waste my time,” Reinsdorf shared by way of Silver Screen and Roll.

While the billionaire businessman acknowledges LeBron’s skill as a player, he emphasized that there’s nobody in the league today that matches up to Jordan.

“I’m really pleased it showed how great Michael was to people who hadn’t seen him play. I’m truly tired of people trying to compare LeBron to Michael when it’s not even close. They should try to compare LeBron with Oscar Robertson or Magic Johnson,” Reinsdorf added.

“The Last Dance” highlighted the tough competition Jordan had to go through in his career with the Bulls. It featured a mix of internal conflict, heated rivalries, and personal bouts that made Jordan’s story even more historic.

It makes sense to include Jordan in the conversation of the greatest of all time with all the accolades he has accomplished. Among these include a total of six NBA championships, multiple All-Star selections, five MVPs and an iconic image that changed the world.

While LeBron’s story isn’t done yet, the influence Jordan has had in the sporting world has been tremendous and is continuously felt until today. Whether it’s in his athletic style of play, his elite competitive drive, or his overall swagger on the court, it’s clear that today’s game is what it is today because of Jordan.

The LA Lakers are currently aiming for a championship this year and it’ll take some time before people can analyze if LeBron has lived up to the Jordan comparisons.
