The Los Angeles Lakers have plenty of slots to fill and one NBA cager who could be making his return is Brook Lopez. After moving to the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2018-19 NBA wars, the 31-year-old unfurled an impressive showing - particularly the ability to hit it from deep. That could be a dangerous weapon for coach Frank Vogel, meaning the 10th overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft could be someone who can damage both inside and out.

According to ESPN, the Lakers were discussing the potential return of Lopez to the fold. However, this was before the Anthony Davis trade came to fruition - likely a backup plan in the event the Lakers were unable to close a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. Regardless, the fact is that the Lakers unloaded a lot of their young players for Davis - including Brandon Ingram. Lopez could end up as a backup to Davis although the 2013 NBA All-Star is likely to want to see the offer first before deciding. Lopez agreed to a one-year deal with the Bucks for $3.4 million last season.

If not as a backup, there is a chance that Lopez and Davis could play together. With the top pick of the 2012 NBA Draft more comfortable playing the power forward position, the Lakers could have twin-tower combination of their own with Lopez possibly acting as a decoy since he can hit it from practically anywhere on the court. This would open up the middle and allow the 6-foot-10 Davis to operate better inside the paint.

Seeing however how he had a great run with the Bucks last season, Lopez could end up waiting first on what Milwaukee will offer. If not, several other teams are likely to make their pitch to Lopez in the summer as well. So far and aside from the Lakers and the Bucks, no other teams have been linked to the 7-footer as of this writing. That could all change in the coming weeks, starting with the 2019 NBA Draft where new blood will be coming in.

Pundits believe that the Lakers should have retained Lopez one NBA season ago. He proved to be a good fit to the Lakers at the time, befuddling a lot of people especially with LeBron James on board. Lopez would have addressed the lack of firepower and ceiling last season, Lakers Nation reported. It remains to be seen if Brook will take that into considering - in the event that the Lakers do come knocking at his door.
