  • The Houston Rockets haven't given James Harden a deadline to return
  • Harden continues to party than prepare for the coming NBA season
  • Harden seems to be serious about leaving Houston

James Harden continues to be missing at the Houston Rockets' practice, further raising questions on his future with the club.

First-year head coach Stephen Silas is unable to give a straight answer as to why, leading most to believe that the 2018 NBA MVP is serious about wanting to leave Houston.

Rather than rejoin the team, Harden has been spotted partying heavily over in Las Vegas. His latest escapade was shared on social media with the 31-year-old enjoying the carouse at the Drai’s nightclub during the wee hours.

Harden allegedly promised to be at practice “soon,” but his continued partying has sent off different signals.

Regardless of how the situation looks, the Rockets are trying to be patient. Silas said that there is no timetable for his return and only Harden can say when he will suit up for training, CBS Sports reported.

"Uh, yeah, as far as timetable, there is no timetable as far as I know," Silas said. "And it is a setback. You know, you want your best player to be here and, um, there is a short window, as you've alluded to... I mean, I have to be honest and understand that this is a setback not having one of the best players in the NBA here."

"But I'm working with the guys who are here, and we're working hard and we're doing a good job."

Silas prefers not to give color to his actions, asserting that only Harden can answer that question.

"No clarity about the message, honestly," he stated. "I take it that — basically at face value — that he's not here. And what the reasoning is is on him. He's the one who can explain why, or why not — he's not here."

One person who has stood up for Harden is his mother Monja Willis. On Instagram, she said that she is proud of her son for making his own decisions.

She likewise mentioned that the eight-time All-Star is doing what is best for his career.

Harden has been linked to the Brooklyn Nets to join Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. But his former teammate went on record to claim that no talks were held between them.

The only other team linked to Harden so far is the Philadelphia 76ers. But a soured relationship between Rockets owner Tillman Fertita and new President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey may prevent any trade from happening.
