NBA Trade Rumors: Two Eastern Conference Teams Chasing Dennis Schroder
KEY POINTS
- The Bucks crowds the Bulls in the race for Dennis Schroder
- The Celtics are studying potential deals to clear salary space and avoid the luxury tax
- Schroder could be an insurance policy with Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso injured
Dennis Schroder has had his ups and downs with the Boston Celtics this 2021-22 NBA season.
But as a whole, the German guard has not exactly made a big difference.
With the NBA trade deadline only days away, the Celtics could be engaging in moves that could see the 28-year-old being dealt out to another team.
It appears at least two Eastern Conference teams have interesting in adding the 6-foot-1 guard if the Celtics are interested. They are the Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks.
According to the Action Network, the Bucks are the second team after the Bulls engaging in talks with the Celtics for Schroder.
However, the degree of interest by the defending NBA champions was not mentioned.
This comes not long after the Bulls reportedly put an offer on the table for the Celtics for the German.
It would be best to note that this would be the first time since Chicago allegedly had an interest in the offseason.
However, all that was snuffed when the Bulls acquired Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso. But with injuries plaguing the two guards, adding Schroder could be nothing more than insurance heading into the NBA Playoffs.
According to Jake Fischer of the Bleacher Report, Troy Brown Jr. and a second-round pick is something that is being conceptualized to get a Schroder trade done.
If a trade does pan out, it raises questions on what lies ahead for Schroder in the offseason.
So far this season, the German has played in 47 games averaging 14.3 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.3 rebounds in 29.7 minutes of action.
These are slightly lower numbers compared to his previous seasons.
Regardless, the Celtics have reason to try and rid themselves of Schroder. As pointed out by Matt Moore of the Action Network, this is to clear salaries and help save them from the luxury tax.
It was also added in that report that aside from Schroder, another player who could be dealt out is Marcus Smart.
One team linked to the 27-year-old guard is the Minnesota Timberwolves.
According to several reports, the Timberwolves are trying to whip up a trade with the names of Malik Beasley, Jaden McDaniels, or a first-round pick possibly being given up in a potential Smart trade.
