NBC Anchor Brian Williams Dismisses Donald Trump During Election Night Coverage
Brian Williams dissed and dismissed Donald Trump on Election night.
The anchor of NBC Nightly News said during his coverage of Barack Obama’s re-election, “Donald Trump, who has driven well past the last exit to relevance and peered into something closer to irresponsible here, is tweeting tonight.”
Trump is certainly not new to controversy, after he offered Obama $5 million last month to reveal his passport applications and college transcripts by a specific date.
Following the announcement, Obama joked about the offer while on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno.
“This all dates back to when we were growing up together in Kenya," Obama said jokingly when asked about his rivalry with Trump.
"We had constant run-ins on the soccer fields," Obama continued, "He wasn't very good and resented it. When we finally moved to America, I thought it would be over."
After Hurricane Sandy, Trump extended his deadline, and then accused Obama of using the superstorm to “buy” votes.
“Hurricane is good luck for Obama again -- he will buy the election by handing out billions of dollars,” Trump wrote on Facebook. “Not only giving out money, but Obama will be seen today standing in water and rain like he is a real President -- don't fall for it.”
“Maybe Obama should donate my $5M to the families of the 17 who have lost loved ones during the storm?” Trump said. “Another great cause Obama could send my $5M donation to is a charity for 9/11 First Responders. They are American heroes.”
Following Obama’s win Tuesday night, Trump tweeted, “Our country is now in serious and unprecendented trouble ... like never before.”
