Ne-Yo among actors ready for Battle
R&B singer-songwriter Ne-Yo is suiting up with Ramon Rodriguez, Taylor Handley and Cory Hardrict for Battle: Los Angeles, a sci-fi war movie.
Jadin Gould, Bryce Cass and Joey King also have joined the cast, which includes Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan and Michael Pena.
Jonathan Liebesman (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) is directing the Columbia feature.
Ne-Yo, who recently signed on to write and sing the closing song for Disney's animated feature The Princess and the Frog, will play a corporal in the platoon that's fighting the invading aliens.
Rodriguez, Handley and Hardrict are cast as members of the platoon. Cass, Gould and King are playing kids trapped in a community center.
Battle will be Ne-Yo's highest-profile movie role and one that takes him out of the realm of music-related films. His credits include Stomp the Yard and Save the Last Dance 2.
Ramon Rodriguez has appeared in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and The Taking of Pelham 123. Handley, who returns for a recurring role on NBC's cop drama Southland, also starred in Kevin Williamson's Hidden Palms. Hardrict appeared in Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino.
