Ne-Yo has broken his silence after his wife, Crystal Renay, accused him of cheating in an emotional statement over the weekend.
The "Knock You Down" singer took to Twitter Sunday to issue a statement about Renay's infidelity allegations. Ne-Yo, 42, did not deny the accusations but asked for respect and privacy for his family during this time.
"For the sake of our children, my family and I will work through our challenges behind closed doors," he tweeted. "Personal matters are not meant to be addressed and dissected in public forums. I simply ask that you please respect me and my family's privacy at this time."
In a post on Instagram Saturday, Renay claimed that her husband has been cheating on her for eight years. She also announced that she was choosing herself and moving on from their marriage.
"8 years of life and deception. 8 years of unknowingly sharing my life and husband with numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected … every last one of them," the 36-year-old model alleged. "To say I'm heartbroken and disgusted is [an] understatement. To ask me to stay and accept it is absolutely insane. The mentality of a narcissist."
She went on to say that she will no longer lie or pretend about something that is not real. "I choose me, I choose my happiness and health and my respect," she continued.
Ne-Yo — real name Shaffer Chimere Smith — and Renay share three children: sons Shaffer, 6, and Roman, 4, and 1-year-old daughter Isabella. The "Miss Independent" singer is also dad to 11-year-old daughter Madilyn and 10-year-old son Mason, whom he shares with ex Monyetta Shaw.
Renay said in her post that aside from her "three beautiful children," she gained "nothing else" from their relationship except "wasted years and heartache." She also had a request for those who keep reaching out to her about Ne-Yo's alleged extramarital affairs.
"I ask that you all please stop sending me videos or information of him cheating because what he does is no longer my concern," she added. "I am not a victim. I'm choosing to stand tall with my head held high."
She ended her statement with a positive note about loving one's self. "If someone can't love you the way you deserve, then it's up to you to love yourself. With no hate in my heart, I wish him nothing but the best," she concluded.
Ne-Yo and Renay wed in 2016. In February 2020, the award-winning singer announced that they decided to divorce, but they reconciled a month later and tied the knot again in a lavish ceremony at Resorts World Las Vegas in April, Entertainment Tonight reported.
