Netflix Comedy Series Star Busisiwe Lurayi Suffers Sudden Death At 36

Actress Busisiwe 'Busi' Lurayi, who starred in shows like "Wild At Heart" and "ER," died at the age of 36. She was recently featured in the Netflix comedy series, "How To Ruin Christmas."

The tragic news was disclosed by the actress' family, who shared a statement Monday via Eye Media Artists Agency on Instagram. This agency was owned by the actress. "We are deeply saddened to notify you of the passing of our beloved Busisiwe Lurayi," the post read.

The statement further revealed that the actress died "suddenly" at home over the weekend and “medical personnel” announced her dead.

"Busisiwe passed away suddenly and was pronounced dead at her residence on Sunday [July 10, 2022] by medical personnel," the agency mentioned. "The reason for her death is still unknown as we await the results of the autopsy report."

The family thanked everyone for their support and requested privacy as they grieved.

"We humbly request that you allow us as the family to come to terms with this tragic news," they added. "We thank you for the support that has been given so far and will provide further information as soon as it has been made available."

Fans took to the comments section to share their condolences and reactions.

On the work front, Lurayi began her acting career in 2005 with the TV series, "City Ses'la," where she portrayed Phumzile's character. She also played Sittina's character in the TV series, "ER," which was dropped in 2006.

She went on to work on the 2007 series, "Wild at Heart," 2011's TV series, "Sokhulu and Partners II," and 2012's TV series, "S.I.E.S."

The actress reprised her Phumzile's character in the 2015's sitcom, "Ses' Top La." She had also worked in the "Vutha" TV series as Dr. Lungile Asumadu. The show was first premiered in 2020. Lurayi also appeared in Netflix comedy series, "How to Ruin Christmas" as Tumi Sello.
