Netflix Will No Longer Work On Older Samsung Smart TVs Next Month
Starting Dec. 1, 2019, some Samsung smart TVs will no longer be able to stream Netflix shows due to the technical limitations of older models. The announcement comes from the official website of Netflix, which at this time, is no longer available. The American media service provider and production company announced that those with older models would have to purchase a compatible device to be able to watch their favorite Netflix programs.
The announcement from Netflix might affect older models of Samsung TV. The company also says that the products offered by the American media service provider can be viewed from several other devices capable of connecting to the TV. The statement does not say which models would no longer be supported.
Netflix reportedly shared a list of compatible devices that can still stream its shows earlier, but it appears to have been deleted now. Several reports claim the list of supported devices includes Chromecast, Apple TV, gaming consoles, and several other set-top boxes. Samsung has already confirmed that as long as the users have one of the supported devices, they can still watch Netflix on their TV, says Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, Netflix has informed the site about the latest change and claims that it affects a very small number of users. Additionally, members who will be affected by the upcoming change have already been notified and provided support, Netflix revealed to the site. If you are one of those affected by the upcoming change, there are other ways that you can enjoy Netflix without spending too much.
You can buy inexpensive media streaming dongles such as Google Chromecast, Roku streaming stick, or Amazon Fire TV stick that can be easily plugged into the HDMI ports of your TV. Samsung’s current situation seems to happen at a turning point in the TV industry. Up until now, it appears that media streaming dongles were decreasing in significance when almost all TV is a smart TV that comes with popular streaming apps.
