New ‘Minecraft’ Greek Mythology DLC Available For All Game Versions
“Minecraft,” the game building simulator that lets fans make anything they want, now has a variety of Greek mythology-related downloadable content (DLC) for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Fans will be happy to know that this piece of “Minecraft” DLC features 39 character skins, a custom texture set, a new user interface (UI) and even a new soundtrack to fit the theme better.
All of the 39 skins have been revealed by the Xbox Wire, and it's quite a list, mixing up some of the better-known Greek gods with figures from mythology, which adds more variety to the pack. Some of the monsters in the pack include Cyclops, Medusa, Minotaur, Hydra and a generic Sea Monster.
Most of the Greek gods have also been fairly represented in the “Greek Mythology Mash Up” pack for “Minecraft.” Included in the game are Zeus, Heracles, Hades, Aphrodite, Hermes, Hera, Artemis, Poseidon and many more.
The pack will also include Greek heroes and characters like Odysseus, Jason and the Argonauts and Helen of Troy. It is clear that the game’s developers have been doing a lot of research so that all of the characters would be somewhat true to their models, but in blocky form.
Prior to the Greek mythology content that was released, most “Minecraft” DLC has involved pop culture or the media, like the previously released “Simpsons” DLC or “Adventure Time.” It's interesting to see a more mythological presence in “Minecraft,” and it opens up the possibility for even more DLC packs in the future.
The best part about the DLC is that all of the content is available for only $3.99, as stated in an article by GameSpot, so fans of Zeus, Hercules and Medusa should pick up the “Greek Mythology Mash Up Pack.” Fans of the mythology will be able to recreate some of their favorite stories, like trapping a Minotaur in a maze, or create new adventures in “Minecraft."
