New On Netflix In May 2017: Top 9 Movies, TV Shows To Watch
A new month brings plenty of new titles to Netflix. The streaming platform will add several new movies and TV shows in May 2017. While some are Netflix originals, others are beloved classics from the big screen. Check out the top nine titles being added to Netflix in May:
“Forrest Gump” — May 1 — This 1994 dramedy is a Tom Hanks classic. Forrest (Hanks) refuses to think of himself as disadvantaged and goes on to be a football player and a soldier in Vietnam. Unfortunately, his love Jenny (Robin Wright) doesn’t have such a bright future.
“Sense8” Season 2 — May 5 — After teasing fans with a Christmas special, the Netflix original finally returns with a full season. Fans will see how Will (Brian J. Smith) avoiding Whispers (Terrence Mann) turns into the sensates hunting the villain.
“All We Had” — May 9 — Katie Holmes stars in and directs this 2016 indie movie about a single mom and her daughter trying to start a new life during the 2008 financial crisis.
“Master of None” Season 2 — May 12 — Dev (Aziz Ansari) returns, but this time he is in Italy, following his dream of taking cooking classes. Angela Bassett, John Legend and Bobby Cannavale are all set to make guest appearances in Season 2 of the Netflix original comedy.
“Riverdale” Season 1 — May 18 — This murder mystery will be available just a week after the finale airs on The CW. The dark adaptation of Archies Comics shows the small town rocked by the death of Jason Blossom (Trevor Stines).
“Inglourious Basterds” — May 22 — Quentin Tarantino and Eli Roth directed this 2009 Academy Award winner. The movie shows a group of U.S. soldiers planning to assassinate Nazi leaders, but the theater owner’s plans to do the same might interfere.
“Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King” — May 23 — After making headlines hosting the White House Correspondents Dinner, many will want to make sure “The Daily Show” correspondent Hasan Minhaj’s stand up special is in their queue.
“Southpaw” — May 24 — Jake Gyllenhaal stars in this sports film about Billy “The Great” Hope, a professional boxer who watches his wife (Rachel McAdams) get killed. After a downward spiral leads to him losing custody of his daughter, he has to get his life back on track.
“Doctor Strange” — May 30 — The Marvel Cinematic Universe explores the astral plane and other dimensions in this action movie. Famed surgeon Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is desperate for a way to fix his hands after a car accident threatens to ruin his career. He seeks the help of the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), who teaches him how to become the most powerful sorcerer on Earth.
