New Netflix Releases: All The Movies, TV Series, Specials Streaming In April

Don’t worry about those April showers. Netflix has plenty of new movies, TV shows and specials to keep audiences occupied during every rainy day.

Women’s History Month was March, but Netflix is keeping the girl power going through April with movies like “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” and its sequel as well as “Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.” For those looking for a little more action, “The Fifth Element” and “The Golden Compass” will also be added.

The streaming platform has a couple of original female-fronted movies. “Captain Marvel” star Brie Larson makes her directorial debut with “Unicorn Store,” which follows a twenty-something who gets an invitation to live out her childhood dreams.

Elsewhere, Gina Rodriguez stars in the Netflix original comedy, “Something Great.” She plays a young woman who takes her best friends out for one epic last adventure before leaving New York.

Netflix also has plenty of horror movies coming in April. “Freddy vs. Jason,” “Friday the 13th” (2009) and “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D” will be added. Plus, Netflix’s creepy series “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” returns for a second season.

Those looking for something more family-friendly will find plenty of other options on Netflix. “Spy Kids” and “Penelope” will be added at the beginning of the month. “Trolls: The Beat Goes On!” Season 6 and “Pinky Malinky” Season 2 will premiere while “Super Monsters Furever Friends” also debuts.
