New ‘Spider-Man’ Trailer: 5 Shocking Moments In ‘Far From Home’ Trailer
After all the secrecy surrounding “Avengers: Endgame,” it feels like Marvel’s new “Spider-Man: Far From Home” trailer is filled with a shocking amount of detail (as well as some major “Endgame” spoilers). Let’s break down some of the biggest reveals from the promo video:
Ghosting Nick Fury: Peter Parker (Tom Holland) wanted nothing more than to be an Avenger at one point (a dream that was fulfilled in “Infinity War”). Though he turned down Tony Stark’s offer in “Homecoming,” that’s different from straight up ignoring Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). The “Far From Home” trailer shows Peter sending him to voicemail and even trying to convince Fury and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) to call in a different superhero, like Thor or Captain Marvel. Peter is having some real issues with the idea of being a big hero after Iron Man died.
Multi-Verse: The “Spider-Man: Far From Home” trailer reveals that Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) is from a different earth. Fury claims the Snap messed with realities (though it feels like maybe all the time traveling the Avengers did could’ve messed with things too), and somehow, Mysterio slipped onto this Earth.
MJ Knows: Peter clearly has a crush on MJ (Zendaya), and when it looks like he’s about to tell her about his feelings, she interrupts to say that she knows he’s Spider-Man. Is this going to be a deadpan joke or does she really know that Peter is a superhero?
All The Iron Man: After “Avengers: Endgame,” it was clear that “Far From Home” would have to address what happened, but Iron Man’s death isn’t just a loss for Peter. It’s the world that’s in mourning, and murals and altars are popping up all over the place. The trailer makes it clear that Peter is still very much connected to the fallen hero. Happy is trying to make sure the teenager stays a hero, and he’s still using Stark’s suits. Peter is even seen wearing Tony’s old glasses in one scene.
Multiple Suits: Why is Spider-Man using so many different suits? The answer is unclear. First, he is seen in the Iron Spider suit that he wore in the last two “Avengers” films. Then he wears a black-ops outfit that most likely came from Fury and Hill. However, he is also spotted in his main “Homecoming” suit, and the photo below makes it look like another variation will be a red and black suit.
The “Spider-Man: Far From Home” trailer also reminds viewers of the new release date. It was previously scheduled for Friday, July 5, but it will now hit theaters on Wednesday, July 2. Tickets are on sale now.
