A woman from upstate New York has been charged with manslaughter on Sunday after purposely running over her boyfriend, killing him on the spot.
The incident took place on number 3 County Route 85 in the town of Tuscarora, close to the Pennsylvania border. The couple was driving down the road at around 1:45 a.m. ET when the boyfriend, identified as 31-year-old Nicholas Tracy, pulled over, got out of the car and started walking. The girlfriend, 29-year-old Brittany Carlson, quickly moved to the driver's seat of the vehicle and fatally mowed Tracy down, the New York State Police said in a statement.
Cops responded to the scene after getting a 911 call about a body on the road.
Carlson, who is from Addison in upstate Steuben County, was charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, second-degree manslaughter, reckless driving, driving while intoxicated and unsafe start.
Police said it was unclear as to why Tracy got out of the car all of a sudden. Whether the couple was having an argument before the incident remains unknown.
In December 2020, a Nevada woman was arrested for fatally mowing down her boyfriend under her car on purpose. The victim, 42-years-old James Dutter, was still conscious when cops arrived at the scene.
While being taken to the hospital, he managed to tell the cops that he wanted to end the relationship and that it infuriated his girlfriend, 41-year-old Maylien Doppert. The victim suffered "lacerations to his forehead, left elbow, right forearm and abrasions to his hip," and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
In another similar incident in May 2019, a Las Vegas man stood accused of attempted murder after driving over his girlfriend who attended the Electric Daisy Carnival without his consent. Ryan Mansour, 20, became furious after seeing his girlfriend's carnival photos on Instagram and started arguing with her.
Mansour later told the police that he had attempted to leave the scene and while doing so, he accidentally ran over his girlfriend. The woman was rescued from underneath the car by bystanders and rushed to a hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.
