Newborn Baby's Mutilated Body Parts Found Dumped, Occult Link Suspected
The dismembered body parts of a newborn baby were found dumped in a town in Nigeria.
Residents in Wudil town of Kano state were terrified by the gory sight of the baby's body parts dumped between some grasses and firewood, Daily Trust reported.
Authorities said they had initially located the leg of the baby Sunday, and were later informed about the head. However, the other body parts are yet to be found.
The ward head of Sakau area, Mallam Muhammadu Sule, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust.
“It was somebody called manager who informed me that a newborn baby’s legs have been found inside firewood in the area in the early hours of Sunday. I got to the place and saw it too but I found a policeman already arrived. I quickly reported to my village head, who ordered me to also inform the police and the Hisbah," he said.
“We searched but couldn’t find the remaining parts of the baby. It was after we buried the legs, approximately two hours later that I was informed that the baby’s head has also been found inside grasses. We reported again to the authorities, and we had to dig out the legs we buried,” he added.
Sule also told local media the remains of the newborn baby have been sent to Wudil hospital for an autopsy. Doctors at the hospital confirmed the baby had been mutilated.
Shehu Abdullahi, who said he witnessed the body being dug out, told Daily Trust the residents suspect someone gave birth to the child and then cut the baby into pieces before dumping the newborn. Abdullahi also said it seemed this could be some kind of ritualistic activities. While authorities are yet to confirm the reason behind the horrific killing, locals suspect an occult link in the case, Legit Nigeria reported [Google Translate].
Alhaji Garba Me Disai, the village head of Sabon Gari Wudil, where the incident took place, urged residents to be very sensitive about the incident. He requested the public to come forward with information about any suspicious activity in their areas.
