The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to win their fourth straight AFC West title, and they are among the Super Bowl favorites with reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes at quarterback. The Los Angeles Chargers won 12 games a year ago. The Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders have both lost 10-plus games in each of the last two seasons.

How many games will each AFC West team win in the 2019 NFL season? Below are predictions for the division, based on the latest over/under win totals at New Jersey’s FanDuel Sportsbook.

Kansas City Chiefs: 10.5 Wins (-110 Over/-110 Under)

The Chiefs were always good under Andy Reid before 2018, posting five straight winning records, including three 11-plus-win seasons. Then Kansas City replaced Alex Smith with Mahomes, and they became a true title contender. Even after just one season, it’s safe to call Mahomes the best quarterback in football. He will continue to engineer an explosive offense with Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce as his top options. The Chiefs’ defense will determine whether Kansas City wins as few as 11 games or as many as 14 games.

Prediction: Over

Los Angeles Chargers: 9.5 Wins (-130 Over/+105 Under)

Seemingly every year the Chargers are touted as one of the most talented teams in football, but 2018 was the first time in nearly a decade that Philip Rivers and Co. recorded double-digit victories. The juice on the over make under 9.5 wins a worthy bet. It’s unknown when left tackle Russell Okung will return to the field, weakening an already poor offensive line that was completely dominated in the divisional playoffs. Losing Derwin James for most of the season with a foot injury is a devastating blow. Having to face the difficult NFC North won’t help the Chargers get to 10 wins, either.

Prediction: Under

Denver Broncos: 7 Wins (-105 Over/-115 Under)

The Broncos are more than capable of riding their defense to a .500 season. New head coach Vic Fangio should help improve the defense, which was a top-five unit in each year from 2014-2017. Denver let a few winnable games get away late in the fourth quarter in 2018, blowing contests against the Chiefs, Texans and Browns. Joe Flacco has played for winning teams that relied on its defense for much of his career. Denver could benefit if Los Angeles fails to meet expectations.

Prediction: Over

Oakland Raiders: 6.5 Wins (+165 Over/-195 Under)

There’s barely any hope for the Raiders to have a good season. Oakland has the NFL’s most difficult schedule. Antonio Brown has already been more trouble than he’s worth, and the regular season hasn’t even started yet. The draft picks that the Raiders received in exchange for Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper won’t be nearly enough to make up for the lost production of those two Pro Bowlers. Expect the Raiders to lose at least 10 games for the sixth time in eight years.
