NFL & MLB Star Deion Sanders Finalizes Divorce: 'Thank God' It's Over
Multi-sport star Deion Sanders has finalized his divorce from his estranged wife, Pilar, and he has taken to Twitter to celebrate.
"Thank God Thank God! This 2 year Drama filled divorce is over. Prenup stood, Custody of All kids, pay yo own fees! God is Faithful! Truth," Sanders tweeted on Friday.
This isn’t the first time "Prime Time" has opened up about his relationship troubles. He followed up his initial tweet on Friday with another missive offering advice to men in the dating game. "Men Listen closely! Don't choose a woman with your Flesh choose her with your Spirit & Heart. Yo flesh will Lie until yo flesh die. Truth," Sanders tweeted.
The NFL Hall of Famer and MLB star filed for divorce at the end of 2011, but a contentious legal battle with his wife ensued over custody of their three children, as well as finances and the prenuptial agreement, the Huffington Post reports.
According to Dallas Morning News, Sanders has been awarded primary custody of the children, and he will also keep their mansion in Prosper, Texas.
With the travails of the legal battle, it’s no wonder that Deion would be eager to move on to greener pastures. In another tweet on Friday, Sanders opined about the benefits of letting go.
"When you truly learn how to say Goodbye to certain things u will also learn how to say Hello to better things. Let go & Live baby! #TRUTH," Sanders wrote.
As E! Online points out, “Truth” is how Deion signs off all of his tweets, and he frequently uses the word as a hashtag.
Lest Deion get too ahead of himself in the celebration, the Dallas Morning News reports that Pilar has a separate case pending against him that will be heard by a jury. Her allegations include fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, mental distress and physical abuse.
Sanders married Pilar in 1999. The former couple have three children together: Shilo, Shedeur, and Shelomi. Sanders also has two other children, Deion Jr. and Deiondra, from his first marriage.
