A week after being suspended for conduct detrimental to the team, Michael Bennett has been traded from New England Patriots to Dallas Cowboys.

The move reportedly was a result of what Bennett termed a “philosophical disagreement” with positional coach Bret Bielema. The incident apparently took place in front of the other players of Patriots.

The Patriots will receive a seventh-round pick that could become a sixth-rounder in 2021, according to ESPN. This comes as the latest National Football League (NFL) deal ahead of the Oct. 29 trade deadline.

Earlier, Bennett spoke to Bielema saying he was displeased since his playing time in the team had reduced to a great extent since the season opener. In Week 6, he played just 11 of 50 defensive snaps in a win over the New York Giants.

"It’s America. You can voice your opinion about how you feel about certain situations. That’s what I did. I got suspended. Lost money. What am I supposed to take away from that? There’s no love lost. It’s just how it is," the defensive end had said in an interview after getting suspended.

A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Bennett who has 65.5 career sacks and 13 forced fumbles in 147 career games, played in six matches this season for Patriots and had 5 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 1 pass defended. In those six games, he overall had been on the field for 133 of 374 defensive snaps (35.6 percent).

Bennett, who turns 34 in November, will get a great chance to take some on-field revenge against his now-former side, Patriots when the team takes on Cowboys in Foxborough on Nov. 24. The defensive end will be a part of a pass-rush group that also includes Demarcus Lawrence, Robert Quinn, Kerry Hyder and Dorance Armstrong.
