NFL Rumors: Antonio Brown, Green Bay Packers Not A Fit As Pittsburgh Steelers Look To Trade Receiver

There are seemingly more reports about NFL teams being out of the race for Antonio Brown than there are rumors of teams making a serious play for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ star. The Green Bay Packers are one of those teams that were once linked to the wide receiver, but no longer appear to be a realistic landing spot.

According to ESPN’s Packers reporter Rob Demovsky, Green Bay was never an option for Brown. The Packers reportedly haven't spoken with the Steelers about making a trade for the veteran.

It was just a few weeks ago that the Packers were listed among the betting favorites to acquire Brown. The San Francisco 49ers led the way with the best odds, and they were followed by the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay.

All three teams seem like long shots to acquire Brown.

Green Bay might actually be one of the few teams that Brown would want to play for in the 2019 NFL season. A deal between the Buffalo Bills and Steelers reportedly fell through because Brown made it clear that he had no interest in joining the AFC East team.

While Bills’ rookie Josh Allen was the least accurate quarterback last year, Aaron Rodgers remains one of the best signal callers in the NFL. The addition of Brown could give the Packers one of the league’s top offenses.

Perhaps a team like Green Bay or another dark horse candidate will enter the race for Brown if he continues to go untraded. The Steelers might be forced to drop their asking price with so many potential suitors reportedly moving on.
