  • Cooper has yet to sign deal with Dallas
  • Broncos interested in giving Cooper hefty deal
  • Cooper prefers to stay in Dallas

Amari Cooper has yet to sign with the Dallas Cowboys although team owner Jerry Jones repeatedly mentioned he plans to keep the 25-year-old wide receiver. Both he and Dak Prescott have yet to finalize their new pacts although critics feel that it will only be a matter of time before it all gets done.

Though Cooper seems to be content sticking it out in Dallas, there could be a sudden change of heart if some other NFL team dangles an offer that would be hard to resist. One team recently mentioned is the Denver Broncos. According to SI.com, the Broncos are reportedly ready to pay a steep price just to get the four-time Pro Bowler to their side.

For now, that could be no more than an option for Cooper especially if he frowns at the contract that would be offered to him. It has become a mystery why Jones has yet to finalize the new leases of Cooper and Prescott with negotiations taking so long. But as mentioned in a previous post, the wait is not considered as something serious with pundits believing that both Prescott and Cooper will get their due soon.

Though the chances of seeing Cooper join the Broncos are remote, one can just imagine how he and Courtland Sutton would improve the pass-catching game of Denver. Drew Lock could have a field day passing to either player, something that could boost the Broncos campaign next NFL season.

Despite injuries, Cooper showed that he could still deliver at a high level when he is on the field. That includes setting new career-highs of 1,189 receiving yards and starting for the Cowboys in 16 games. Most of all, he was able to hit it well with Dak Prescott, clearly giving Jones something to think about. Right now, it is all about the numbers crunch which has yet to be resolved.

The latest on contract talks is that the Cowboys are stepping up their contract pitch with Amari Cooper. In fact, Ed Werder of ESPN suggests that Cooper could get a finalized contract even before Prescott. It appears that the 26-year-old's case is far more complicated and there are even suggestions that Dallas could use the franchise tag on him, ESPN said in an earlier report.
