  • Texans owner tries to smoke the peace pipe with Watson
  • Watson has yet to respond to McNair's apology
  • The Texans are expected to hire a new head coach as a peacemaker

The Houston Texans are in a serious bind right now, and their internal moves have drawn heavy criticism.

One pretty unhappy person is Deshaun Watson. The Texans quarterback wanted to have an active role in team decisions but was never given the opportunity.

Latest updates now reveal that Texans owner Cal McNair has personally apologized to Watson, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Houston hired Nick Caserio as their new general manager, and Watson appeared pretty upset since he was not consulted about the decision.

When that deal was announced, Watson put up some cryptic messages on social media. This sparked a wave of speculations that the 25-year-old may be leaving the organization at some point.

Worth factoring in is that there is a no-trade clause in place for Watson. This means the former Clemson player has a say on where he would want to play.

He could opt not to waive that clause and decide where he would play next, ESPN explained.

Watson signed a contract extension in September that is good until 2025. Houston could find trade partners, but that may not materialize if the said player does not like the team.

Perhaps a final chip that could tone down the issue between the Texans and Watson is a new head coach. Houston currently has Romeo Crennel at the helm on an interim basis.

But looking at how the club has fared, a replacement for the AFC South club is a possibility.

A head coach of his liking could tilt the tide. But looking at it differently and the situation that Houston is in, finding someone willing to be thrown in the fire will not be easy.

Of course, Watson could be included in the decision-making process as another form of peace offering. However, that also raises a question on Caserio.

After he was introduced as the Texans’ new general manager, Caserio said that Watson remains the quarterback of the team.

The mentor plans to hold discussions with Watson which hopefully will not go for naught, the Associated Press reported.

“He’s our quarterback, and again, once we have an opportunity, spend some time together, we’ll have further discussions,” Caserio stated.
