The video didn’t go unnoticed by several netizens. While many agreed to their sentiments, some defended Brees and pointed out all the good things he did for the community before this whole fiasco started.
@GajjarRahi replied to the video with a caption “easy to forget, huh?” He attached a screen captured post of Brees announcing that he and his wife, Brittany, committed to donating $5 million to the state of Louisiana in 2020. Brees, in his statement, said that their priority was to help the community amid the pandemic.

Brees signed with the Saints in 2006 and was considered as the adopted son of Louisiana, according to the Bleacher Report. The NFL quarterback also supported New Orleans as it recovered from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Meanwhile, @donf0615 pointed out that in 2010, Brees won an award for his work to rebuild the city of New Orleans. He additionally shared that the said city has over 65% black but with one controversial statement, the things he did no longer mattered.
