It’s sounding more and more like Julio Jones has played his last game for the Atlanta Falcons, raising questions about where the wide receiver will play in the upcoming season.

The Dallas Cowboys are one team that is not a realistic destination for the veteran this offseason.

During Monday’s broadcast of Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed” Shannon Sharpe called Jones to ask about his future. Jones told Sharpe, “I’m out of there” when asked about wanting to stay in Atlanta, and he dismissed the notion that he might end up in Dallas.

“I ain’t going to Dallas,” Jones said. “I never thought about going there.”

Reports surfaced that Jones might get traded shortly before the draft. On Friday, The Athletic reported that Atlanta wanted to trade Jones. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Jones requested to be traded a few months ago, and the Falcons have since listened to offers.

Jones is 32 years old and has played in 135 games. His mileage, and $15.3 million base salary, could make it more difficult for the Falcons to find a suitable trade partner. The New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens are viewed as the most likely teams to make a deal for Jones.

The Cowboys are not a fit for Jones for multiple reasons. Dallas had the No. 1 ranked offense when Dak Prescott was healthy during the 2019 season. Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup lead one of the NFL’s best receiving corps.

Dallas is favored to win the NFC East. Atlanta could have a difficult time competing in the NFC South. The Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers might be even better, and the New Orleans Saints are still viewed as a playoff contender.

The Falcons have missed the playoffs in three straight seasons.

Injuries limited Jones to 771 receiving yards in nine games last season. Jones had at least 1,394 yards in every season from 2014-2019.
