NFL Trade Rumors: Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers Trying To Deal Veterans In 2019 Offseason

Much has been made about the Pittsburgh Steelers and their attempts to trade Antonio Brown, but the wide receiver isn’t the only notable name that could be traded within the next week. Pittsburgh is looking to move another veteran, and the Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly trying to do the same.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Steelers are shopping right tackle Marcus Gilbert. The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane has reported that the Eagles plan to either trade or release defensive end Michael Bennett.

Gilbert indicated in a tweet that his time in Pittsburgh is up, though no official move has yet to be made. The veteran has missed 20 games in the last two seasons, and the Steelers would save $4.9 million in cap space by getting rid of Gilbert before the final year of his contract.

Bennett is set to make $7.2 million in 2019, and he said on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” Friday that he won’t take a pay cut for next season. Bennett even noted that he wants a raise, which is something Philadelphia doesn’t seem to have any interest in doing.

“You're always caught off guard whenever your name is brought up in the trade blocks, or being traded, but you understand that people want to acquire your services and we're in a tough situation as far as the salary cap," Bennett said on “GMF”. “But I'm not willing to take a pay cut. I actually want a pay raise at this point, and so whatever happens just to know that whatever team I go to I want to get paid more than I get paid right now.”

Bennett had nine sacks in one year with the Eagles. After playing for the Seattle Seahawks in 2017, he’s likely headed for his third team in as many seasons.
