NFL Week 16 Picks Against The Spread 2019: Predictions ATS, Updated Betting Odds For Every Game
All but three of the favorites in Week 16 of the 2019 NFL season are laying at least a field goal. Six teams are home underdogs. Only one contest features a double-digit betting line.
Below are picks against the spread for every game in Week 16, as well as updated betting odds at Las Vegas and online sportsbooks. Betting lines and trends are courtesy of OddsShark.
Houston Texans (-3) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It’s going to be hard for Jameis Winston to keep up his recent pace now that his top two wide receivers are likely done for the season. Deshaun Watson will take advantage of a bad secondary and a Bucs’ defense that is 31st in points allowed.
Prediction ATS: Houston
Buffalo Bills (+6.5) at New England Patriots
New England’s offense continues to look like one of the NFL’s worst. The Patriots and Bills have two of the league’s four best defenses. That should make for a close, low-scoring game.
Prediction ATS: Buffalo
Los Angeles Rams (+6.5) at San Francisco 49ers
Last week’s blowout loss in Dallas was further proof that Los Angeles’ offense isn’t much better than average. Even with some recent injuries, San Francisco's defense will be able to shut down the Rams, for the most part. L.A.’s defense has been too inconsistent to trust it on the road against a Super Bowl contender.
Prediction ATS: San Francisco
New Orleans Saints (-3) at Tennessee Titans
Both teams have six wins in their last eight games, led by the quarterbacks with the highest passer ratings in the NFL. Taking the points with the home team might be the best bet.
Prediction ATS: Tennessee
Jacksonville Jaguars (+7.5) at Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta has been impressive over its last six games, winning four times and beating two Super Bowl contenders. The Falcons are averaging 27.3 points per game during that span. Jacksonville hasn’t scored more than 20 points in any of its last six games.
Prediction ATS: Atlanta
Baltimore Ravens (-10) at Cleveland Browns
This is absolutely a game Baltimore should win, but it’s also a big number to lay against one of the two teams that has beaten the Ravens this season. Baltimore has covered the spread once in four divisional games.
Prediction ATS: Cleveland
Carolina Panthers (+7) at Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis’ offensive struggles make it difficult to take them as seven-point favorites. The Colts have been held to 17 points or fewer in four of their last six games. The team could be more cautious with T.Y. Hilton and his calf injury now that they’ve been eliminated from the playoff hunt.
Prediction ATS: Carolina
Cincinnati Bengals (+1) at Miami Dolphins
Cincinnati is 0-7 on the road. The Bengals have reached the 20-point mark once in the last nine games. Miami is 3-1 against the spread in its last four home games.
Prediction ATS: Miami
Pittsburgh Steelers (-3) at New York Jets
The Steelers can’t afford a Week 16 loss if they hope to reach the postseason. Pittsburgh is 8-1 straight up and against the spread in matchups with teams that are out of the current playoff picture. The Jets are 1-4 against teams in the Week 16 playoff picture.
Prediction ATS: Pittsburgh
New York Giants (+2.5) at Washington Redskins
Washington is 0-2 against the spread as a favorite. A healthy Saquon Barkley and Golden Tate give New York a serviceable offense for the first time this year. Daniel Jones will likely be back under center. The rookie beat the Redskins 24-3 earlier this season.
Prediction ATS: New York
Detroit Lions (+7) at Denver Broncos
Detroit is on a seven-game losing streak. Only one of those defeats came at the hands of a team that enters Week 16 with a record above .500. The Lions haven’t scored more than 20 points in any of David Blough’s starts at quarterback. The Broncos are 4-2 against the spread at home.
Prediction ATS: Denver
Oakland Raiders (+5.5) at Los Angeles Chargers
Philip Rivers can’t stop throwing interceptions. He’s been picked off 18 times this season and 16 times in the last 10 games. Los Angeles is last in the league with a minus-16 turnover differential. The Chargers have covered the spread once in seven home games.
Prediction ATS: Oakland
Arizona Cardinals (+9.5) at Seattle Seahawks
Seattle did win 27-10 in Arizona on Sept. 29, but they tend to play a lot of close games. It was the only time in 2019 that the Seahawks have won a game by more than one possession. A banged-up Seattle defense is down to 27th in yards allowed and 25th in opponents’ yards per play.
Prediction ATS: Arizona
Dallas Cowboys (-2.5) at Philadelphia Eagles
The Cowboys have underachieved all season long. Why should we believe they won’t come up short again following a big win over the Rams? Philadelphia has done a better job than Dallas of winning these kinds of games in recent years.
Prediction ATS: Philadelphia
Kansas City Chiefs (-5.5) at Chicago Bears
Patrick Mahomes is still the best quarterback in football, and now the Chiefs actually have a decent defense. Mitchell Trubisky has been awful against teams that defend the pass well. Chicago can’t keep up with an offense that is all but guaranteed to get its share of points.
Prediction ATS: Kansas City
Green Bay Packers (+5.5) at Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota is the best team in the NFC North. Kirk Cousins is having a better season than Aaron Rodgers. The Vikings are the only NFL team that’s undefeated at home. Minnesota is 7-3 against the spread as a favorite.
Prediction ATS: Minnesota
Season Record: 110-110-4
