NFL Week 2 Predictions 2021: Upset Picks, Straight Up Winners Include Dolphins, Bengals, Vikings
Week 1 featured an abundance of upsets as eight of the 14 underdogs won straight up on the first NFL Sunday of 2021. Favorites should have more success in Week 2, though the schedule is bound to include a few surprising results.
Here are three upset picks for NFL Week 2 with betting odds from FanDuel Sportsbook.
Miami Dolphins (+152) vs. Buffalo Bills
The Dolphins could very well challenge the Bills, not just in this game, but for the AFC East title. Coming off an impressive 10-win season, Miami defeated the New England Patriots on the road in Week 1. The Dolphins gave up only 16 points, despite Mac Jones looking good in his NFL debut. After Josh Allen and the Bills’ offense was stymied by the Pittsburgh Steelers in Buffalo, the unit could struggle again against a good Miami defense.
Cincinnati Bengals (+128) at Chicago Bears
It could be a long season for the Bears if they don’t have an elite defense. Matthew Stafford picked Chicago’s secondary apart in the opener with a 156.1 passer rating. The Bears will have few, if any, explosive plays with Andy Dalton under center. Joe Burrow showed little rust in the opener, a great sign for the quarterback after last year’s knee injury. Burrow has a strong receiving corps that could pose problems for defenses all year long.
Minnesota Vikings (+176) at Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals are all but certain to regress following their shocking 38-13 upset over Tennessee. Chandler Jones won’t have five sacks for a second straight week, and Kyler Murray will be hard-pressed to replicate his five-touchdown afternoon against a better Minnesota defense. In the Vikings’ Week 1 loss to the Bengals, Minnesota’s defense only surrendered six points in the game’s final 34 minutes. The Vikings would likely be 1-0 if it wasn’t for a questionable call on what the referees ruled a Dalvin Cook fumble.
