Nick Lachey believes he and his wife Vanessa Lachey are meant to be.
The former 98 Degrees singer, 49, recently told Page Six that he is confident he would have still ended up with Vanessa, 41, had they met on "Love Is Blind."
"I know for a fact that if we had gone into the 'Love Is Blind' pods and didn't know each other, we would have found each other," he shared while promoting the second season of the Netflix series.
"I really do think that in a sea of 30 people — and I’m not just saying this to be cheesy — that we would have ended up together," he added. "We're just so similar and you can't fight fate, right?"
The "Love Is Blind" co-hosts' love story also started in a pod of sorts. According to Vanessa, while they knew what each other looked like, they mostly spent their first year dating "on the phone," which according to the actress "felt like a pod at times."
"He was in LA and I was in New York and we had hours and hours of conversations to get to know each other," she told Page Six. "I remember laying in bed with my cell phone and we'd be like, 'You hang up. No, you hang up.' Sometimes we'd fall asleep together and wake each other up in the morning."
Recalling their phone conversations, Nick said they were "the best" because they helped the couple "build a strong emotional foundation" that still helps them to this day.
Vanessa and Nick first met in 2003 while filming "Total Request Live." She had just joined MTV as a VJ at the time, and he was promoting "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica" with his now-ex-wife Jessica Simpson.
They maintained a friendly and professional relationship until 2006, when they became single. Sparks flew when Vanessa co-starred with the singer in his solo music video for "What's Left of Me."
"The second that we were both single, which was at the same time, and I did his music video, that's when we both thought, 'OK, wow, we can really start dating,'" Vanessa shared.
Nick was married to Simpson between 2002 and 2006. Simpson went on to marry former NFL player Eric Johnson, with whom she shares three children, Maxwell, Ace and Birdie.
Simpson admitted in her memoir "Open Book" that she was sad when Nick quickly moved on with Vanessa shortly after their split.
"So, Nick, you're with another already? Seems that you forgot the love you spoke to me," she wrote in an excerpt obtained by Entertainment Tonight. "I'm saddened beyond belief. Alone in the dark, with no one to call my own."
Vanessa and Nick have been together for a total of 16 years. They will be celebrating their 11th wedding anniversary in July. The couple shares three children — Camden, 9, Brooklyn, 7, and Phoenix, 5.
"Love Is Blind" Season 2 is available to stream on Netflix.
