Nick Lachey On Vanessa And Maks After ‘DWTS’ Drama: ‘They’re Doing Great’
Two Lacheys entered “Dancing With the Stars” this season, but now only one remains.
Nick Lachey and partner Peta Murgatroyd were eliminated from the dance competition on Monday, leaving his wife, Vanessa Lachey, as the only Lachey left, but that doesn’t seem to bother him too much.
“If I can’t win the whole thing then, of course, I want to see my wife win,” Nick told People in a post-elimination interview. “So, I’ll be there to support.”
As long as that coveted Mirrorball trophy finds its way into the Lachey household, Nick is a happy guy.
“There’s gotta be a trophy in the house,” he added. “We’ve already cleared the space for the Mirrorball. Even though I didn’t bring it home, there’s still hope for the Lachey household.”
While Nick wants his wife to win the whole competition, how much of a chance is there of that happening if him and his partner didn’t win it all, even without having personal issues coming between them?
Apparently, Vanessa and her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, are doing much better after their reported feud earlier on in the season.
“There’s a big chemistry issue,” a source told People after Maks didn’t perform with Vanessa during Week 3. “They both have big personalities and that’s not always the best recipe for a good partnership.”
Though the two were supposedly having issues behind-the-scenes, Maks did return in Week 4 to perform with Vanessa and they’ve been dancing together each week since.
Now, according to Nick, the pair are “doing great,” which definitely bodes well for the future of the two in the competition.
“She’s doing great,” Nick told People. “They’re both doing great. I’m so proud of the journey she’s taken.”
And, while he didn’t mention the commotion between the pair, specifically, Nick did state that there’s another explanation for all the supposed drama that’s been going on. That reason is none other than the stress of the show.
“This is a stressful competition, and you don’t need any additional stress,” he continued. “Whatever stress she’s feeling I’m sure is based on the fact that she has to do tough routines on national television every week.”
"Dancing With the Stars" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
