Nicki Minaj Wears Racy Red Dress On 'American Idol': Too Sexy For The Family-Oriented Show? [PHOTO]

Twitter erupted during "American Idol" Wednesday night but mainly because of Nicki Minaj’s outfit and not the contestants’ singing abilities.

Wearing her signature blonde wig, the co-judge paired stiletto silver heels with a skintight DSquared2 red cutout dress that showed off her curves.

Fellow female co-judge Mariah Carey opted for a much more demure black, patterned dress. The hit talent competition is geared toward all ages, so some felt it was inappropriate for the rapper to dress so provocatively when there are young viewers and people watch the show with their families.

“Nicki Minaj’s outfit is very stripper like #idol #lapdance,” one viewer wrote.

This certainly is not the first time Minaj has revealed too much skin. Last month, she wore pasties and little else in French Montana’s “Freaks” videos.

Wearing an open blazer, animal-print leggings and pasties, Minaj showed off one of the best bodies in the female rap game.

For Valentine’s Day, Minaj gave her Twitter followers a special Valentine’s Day gift, sharing pictures of herself wearing a barely there neon bikini while on the set of the music video “High School Musical” with Lil’ Wayne.

In addition, Minaj has had her fair share of wardrobe malfunctions. In November, she suffered a mishap while on BET show "106 & Park."

Wearing a bejeweled ice-cream-inspired bra and high-waist pink pants, Minaj accidentally revealed more of her breasts than she had wanted.

The previous month, she had another snafu while on her "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" tour in Manchester, England. While in a revealing black bustier, Minaj narrowly avoided a nip-slip on stage, thanks to some flowery nipple covers.
