Nina Dobrev Making ‘Vampire Diaries’ Comeback? Find Out What Ian Somerhalder Really Thinks About It
Before “The Vampire Diaries” finally wraps, fans are hoping that Nina Dobrev would return and reprise her role as Elena Gilbert one last time.
However, this controversial return still remains uncertain. The rumor mill has been persistent about conflict arising between ex-couple Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore, and Dobrev.
When Variety asked Somerhalder point blank about Dobrev’s possible return, he admitted that he has no clue what will happen. “I don’t know. I have zero idea. As a producer, I do have a lot of information and then there’s a lot of information I don’t have,” he said. “I want the audience to be happy, but I also am very pro human. I don’t think these guys should have the ability to wreak havoc, kill everybody, ruin the lives of so many and then get out with a happy ending. I think the happy ending is that we got to go on this amazing ride with these two guys. They’ve lived long enough.”
Fans were completely broken-hearted when Somerhalder and Dobrev parted ways. The couple called “Nian” had a lot of supporters, so when Somerhalder married “Sleepy Hollow” star Nikki Reed, people became very upset.
Still, Dobrev chose to be gracious about her ex’s new love. “When I heard about the wedding, I thought it was beautiful," she told ET Online last year. “They look happy and I am happy and so I don't see why there should be a problem with that.”
Dobrev even added that she's still good friends with Somerhalder, so fans should not think that she is upset over his marriage. “I've said this before, that we didn't break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn't love or friendship," she explained. “I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he's great and I care about him. And that didn't change. Yes, we're professional and that's fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now.”
“The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 will wrap up in 2017.
