Nintendo hosted a Nintendo Direct Mini showcase today focused on third-party games that ran for eight minutes on YouTube.
As such, there was no news on “Metroid Prime 4,” a sequel for “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” new characters for “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass,” or anything about the “Pokemon: The Crown Tundra” DLC. Still, there was interesting stuff revealed, and here’s what we gathered by way of Kotaku.
“Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Feat. The Legend of Zelda” is getting new content. For this rhythm adventure title, the first DLC pack out today adds five new characters including Impa and Shadow Link.
The second DLC is the Melody Pack, which features 39 songs. The songs can be changed while playing the game depending on what you’re feeling as you play. A third will feature Skull Kid from “The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask” on a new map.
Each DLC pack is priced at $9 and there will be a new version of “Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Feat. The Legend of Zelda” containing all three DLC packs available on October 23.
Upcoming third-person shooter “Rogue Company” developed by First Watch Games and published by Hi-Rez Studios was also announced. The game is objective-based and various maps for the different modes.
In a segment featuring WWE Superstars Kofi Kingston and Big E of The New Day playing with Cesaro and Asuka, WWE gaming is heading back to the Nintendo Switch. “WWE 2K Battlegrounds” is the first WWE game for the Nintendo Switch since “WWE 2K 18.”
Based on the video, the characters will be more cartoonish and less realistic and will also be allowed to execute super-powered versions of their moves. Characters range from current WWE Superstars to legends like Stone Cold Steve Austin and Andre the Giant.
After “WWE 2K 20” received generally unfavorable reviews with all of its glitches, “WWE 2K 21” was canceled in favor of the more cartoonish “WWE 2K Battlegrounds.” Developed by Saber Interactive and published by 2K Sports, the game will also drop on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Developed by Atlus, “Shin Megami Tensei III,” or “Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne” in the U.S., is getting a high-definition remaster release on the Switch in 2021. Originally released in the U.S. on PlayStation 2 in 2003, a high-definition remaster is also coming to the PS4.
“Shin Megami Tensei V” is also coming for the Nintendo Switch in a simultaneous worldwide release next year, Kotaku notes. The post-apocalyptic role-playing game developed by Atlus was designed as a hybrid between “Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne” and “Shin Megami Tensei IV,” featuring returning gameplay mechanics such as raising and fusing demons.
