The perpetual console wars continue into the holiday season as the Nintendo Switch is once again the best-selling console of the month, outpacing the Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 in November.

According to The Verge, the Nintendo console sold around 550,000 units during the week of Thanksgiving and Black Friday and 1.13 million units in November.

Microsoft's Xbox Series X and Series S also reached impressive sales, coming in second place to Nintendo's hybrid console, although specific numbers were not revealed.

The release of Nintendo's strong first-party titles such as “Metroid Dread” and “Pokemon Brilliant Diamond" and "Pokemon Shining Pearl” helped push the Switch above its competitors once again. Analysts say, however, that the biggest reason that Nintendo dominated was because of availability.

"The console with the most units in market will lead the charts," NPD Group video game analyst Mat Piscatella said in a tweet, as reported by Business Insider. "It's all about stock."

Sony's Playstation 5 has been notoriously difficult for gamers to get a hold of, with neither of the models being dependably in stock since the console was released in November 2020.

Nintendo’s Switch family of consoles starts at $200, while the Playstation 5 starts at $400.

Data from Nintendo show the Switch has sold nearly 93 million units to date.
